Male victims miss support

THE abuse of, in the main, little boys by Catholic priests covered in ABC Four Corners on July 2 has often had fatal effects. This abuse has been known of for decades.I wonder how many of these men could have been healed if they had access in the 1990s to our state funded and feminist controlled sexual assault counselling services. At this time (I was a social worker in Chelsea) I wrote to then (Victorian Premier) Jeff Kennett protesting that Melbourne’s South East Centre Against Sexual Assault (SECASA) refused to assist male survivors of sexual assault.I gather he must have taken action because SECASA actually advertised “that due to a directive from the Premier SECASA has been forced to see male clients”. NSW has an equally appalling legacy of men broken by criminal sexual abuse, compounded by not being helped.I certainly see today in NSW that sexual assault counselling services are still almost entirely staffed by women and openly state their commitment to feminist ideology.A.
