RECOVERING: Maddison is receiving specialist care in a LA hospital after crashing at this years X games.LOCAL motocross daredevil, Robbie Maddison, is in intensive care in Los Angeles after a major crash that has left him with a collapsed lung and broken ribs. The local motocross world champion will be forced to forfeit this year’s X Games event again.Maddison received his injuries after coming off his bike during a training session. In practise for the Moto X Speed and style competition Maddison was launched over his handlebars, hitting the ground and his bike which then flipped to land on top of him.Even in intensive care Maddison still managed to tweet to his fans yesterday, “Mental note: don’t decide to back off and take a breather until after the woops, slowing down equals out of sync equals, will get you front end buried.”The 30-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors initially had trouble distinguishing his injuries from pre-existing bone breaks. He was originally treated for a collapsed lung and cuts to his right leg, and has now been re-located into the intensive care unit. He looks to miss the X Games for the second year in a row. He was unable to compete last due year to a compressed vertebrae in his lower back, and also missed the games in 2007 and 2009 due to injury.Injury is not unfamiliar terrain for Maddison, who has broken almost every bone in his body and still managed to perform as one of the world’s most spectacular extreme motocross daredevils.“It’s not like I’m scared of riding injured, I’m a hard charger. I got silver for the best trick with a broken hand,” said Maddison earlier this year.Although in intensive care, Maddison possesses his usual positive attitude and is expecting another speedy recovery to get back on the track. This story Administrator ready to work first appeared on Nanjing Night Net.
