YOUNG AND FAST: Harry Scouller from Culburra Beach stands on the top step of the podium proudly draped in the Australian flag after receiving his 800m gold medal.LOCAL young athlete Harry Scouller has won gold for Australia at the International Oceania Athletic Championships in Cairns.Competing in the open men’s 800m track and field event, Scouller claimed victory with an impressive time of 1:52:76.Scouller battled hot and humid conditions throughout the fast- paced race but managed to stay ahead of his rivals to stand on the top step of the podium.The Oceania championships played host to over 400 competitors from 22 countries all competing for titles in numerous athletic categories.Scouller, 17, has been competing as a member of the Nowra athletics club since he was just four years old and rates his gold medal victory at the championships as the highlight of his athletics career so far.Scouller also represented Australia in the four by 400 relay event with the Australian B team.The gold medal performance continues a great year for Scouller who won a gold medal at the Australia junior championships earlier this year.Read the full story behind Scouller’s gold medal performance on page 93.This story Administrator ready to work first appeared on Nanjing Night Net.
