HEAVY LIFT: A crane removes one of the demountables from the East Nowra Preschool.THE old East Nowra Primary Preschool buildings for Aboriginal children were hauled out yesterday and are on their way overnight to the Hunter. With them went some of the spirit of the kids who “graduated” from Wayeela Cooinda preschool and playgroup before the new preschool was opened in mid-2011.A giant crane and multiple trucks filled Journal Street as the demountable buildings – split into sections – were hoisted out of the school yard and onto the trucks. Yesterday afternoon, they began heading in convoy for Muswellbrook.East Nowra Primary support teacher Mrs Denise Moncur said the school had considered finding a new use for the old building. However, on hearing it was to go, the school is now considering using the newly vacant space to start a vegetable garden. The preschool caters for about 20 children a day, with about 40 attending each week. The new building was funded through the federal government’s Building the Education Revolution scheme. This story Administrator ready to work first appeared on Nanjing Night Net.
