Panel approves stadium

APPROVAL has been given for the Bomaderry Basketball Stadium to be replaced by a new $9 million centre more than twice the original size. The two-court centre dates back to 1964 but plans to expand it with two extra courts have been around for several years.A report to Friday’s Joint Regional Planning Panel meeting in Nowra said the existing building had deteriorated so badly “the nature and conditionof the existing sports hall makes it very uneconomical to attempt to salvage and refurbish the building.”“Its current position on site compromises the ability to construct a new structure that will have future capacity to expand,” the report stated. The Southern Region JRPP gave approval for the plan to demolish the basketball centre and replace it with a large Northern Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre. It will include four basketball courts with grandstand seating, change rooms, administration area, associated cafe or kiosk, a conference room, creche and car parking for more than 210 cars in three areas. The new centre is expected to be used for a range of indoor sports including basketball, netball and volleyball.Construction is expected to start later this year, with completion next year. This story Administrator ready to work first appeared on Nanjing Night Net.
