City’s population growth is healthy

SHOALHAVEN continues to experience one of the strongest population growth rates in the state.Newly-released census figures show the Shoalhaven experienced a 1.3 per cent growth to its population between June 2010 and June 2011.That took the Shoalhaven’s population to 98,076, with 1278 new residents in the year.That growth rate made Shoalhaven equal with Kiama as the fastest growing coastal local government area in NSW.The Shoalhaven also experienced 6.2 per cent growth in its population over five years between 2006 and 2011.Over 10 years from 2001 to 2011 the population grew by 10,426 people, or 11.9 per cent.In June 2011, about 20 per cent of the NSW population, 1.43 million people, lived in coastal local government areas outside Sydney, and they experienced an average population growth rate of 0.9 per cent in the year.All 21 NSW coastal councils continued to experience population increases in 2010 to 2011, with almost one-half recording growth of more than 500 people during the year.The population of the combined coastal councils grew by 12,300 people during the year.This story Administrator ready to work first appeared on Nanjing Night Net.
