ON THE PROWL – Tigers prepare to maul Bulldogs on weekend

EYE ON THE BALL: Matt Cace looks to get his hands on the ball during last year’s clash against the Wollongong University Bulldogs.Following a slow start to the season that saw them soundly thrashed by Nowra in the opening round of the competition, the Bomaderry Tigers now sit third on the AFL South Coast competition ladder and are eying off a move into the top two.Since their opening round wake-up call the Tigers’ only other loss was a narrow 21 point defeat at the hands of last year’s premiers Kiama.If Bomaderry want to keep their momentum heading forward they will need to be the first team this season to beat competition leaders Wollongong University.Last year’s minor premiers are still stinging from their grand final loss to Kiama. Ruthless from the opening round of the 2012 season they have powered their way to outright first.To inflict the Bulldogs first loss of the season Bomaderry will need to travel north to Keira Oval on Saturday afternoon and overcome a big, fast moving University team that are strong right across the park.Matt Cameron, Matt Cace and Jordan Matthews have been on target for the Tigers recently, but the trio will be relying on Brent Tyrell and Matt Ganderton to win the centre clearances and feed them plenty of ball.The Tigers’ defence will also need to muscle up with Andrew Lee, Luke McCann, Andrew Mazey and Brad Jacques all expected to play a major part in Saturday’s outcome.Bomaderry fans are encouraged to make the trip north to Keira Oval and enjoy a full afternoon of AFL action.AFL South Coast round preview starts on page 32.This story Administrator ready to work first appeared on Nanjing Night Net.
