No place for blood sport

I WRITE on behalf of the members of the Milton National Parks Association in regard to the news that the Premier of NSW has broken a pre-election promise to keep recreational shooting out of national parks. The purpose of these parks is to protect the environment and allow the quiet enjoyment of nature, not for blood sport. The control of feral animals should be left to the professionals.Members of our group walk every Sunday in the local national parks.Other bushwalkers come to this area to walk and tourists use the parks for both walking and other recreational activities. The Premier’s decision poses a huge risk to the safety of the public in general. There are many other issues involved of course but we would urge concerned citizens to contact our local member of parliament, Shelley Hancock or Gareth Ward, to protest against this latest betrayal of the public.S.
