A true perfectionist

RECOGNITION: Goulburn smash repairer Bob Christie pictured with his ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award, presented to him at the sixth annual National Collision Lifetime Achievement Awards held in Sydney on June 2.“Bob really is a perfectionist.” That was what Bob Christie Smash Repairers employee Sandra Falchi said about her boss and, it is an apt description of the way he has run his business for the last 26 years.Mr Christie received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent National Collision Repairers Awards dinner, held in Sydney on June 2.He has been in the smash repair business for nearly 45 years.“I first started in the smash repair business in 1969, and boy was it a different place then,” he said.“We’ve been in North Goulburn here since 1986, and the business has grown from a small shed to what we have today.”They now have three large garages housing their spray painting rooms and their workshops. When his daughter Monique started in 1999, they had a staff of only five, and have now grown to 14.His daughter stated that she was really proud of her dad and what he had achieved over the years.“My husband and I are really proud of him getting this award,” she said.“As Dad began his acceptance speech for the award, I think he was a bit surprised to see us approaching the stage to stand up there with him!”Secretary and close friend, Ms Falchi, summed up Mr Christie’s character well.“His passion for his work and even his staff is second to none,” she said.“He really looks after us all here, and treats us like his second family. We’ve tried to get him to take holidays ever since he started, but because he loves the job so much, he won’t budge! He doesn’t have time to relax, he’s always putting in the ‘hard yards’ and mucking in with all the other blokes.“I don’t think I’ve ever experienced someone who works so hard in his job.”When award presenter Jeff Hendler took to the stage to present him his award, special mention was made of Mr Christie’s achievements in the industry, such as his long service record, the recruiting of many local young kids into the industry and his not often mentioned generosity to the underprivileged in the Goulburn community.Mr Christie also expressed that even though he has been in the industry for nearly 50 years, he felt that he was only half way there. An interview with Mr Christie will feature in the August edition of the National Collision Repairers Magazine.Follow @squireantNone<#start#>None/* * * CONFIGURATION VARIABLES: EDIT BEFORE PASTING INTO YOUR WEBPAGE * * */var disqus_shortname = ‘goulburnpost’; // required: replace example with your forum shortname/* * * DON’T EDIT BELOW THIS LINE * * */(function() {var dsq = document.createElement(‘script’); dsq.type = ‘text/javascript’; dsq.async = true;dsq.src = ‘http://’ + disqus_shortname + ‘.disqus南京夜网/embed.js’;(document.getElementsByTagName(‘head’)[0] || document.getElementsByTagName(‘body’)[0]).appendChild(dsq);})();This story Administrator ready to work first appeared on Nanjing Night Net.
